Case Study: 2018 CO-06

Rep. Jason Crow

Stanford Campaigns’ research helped fend off primary challenger in hard-fought race.

In 2018, former Army Ranger and Denver attorney Jason Crow ran for Congress and won against longtime incumbent Mike Coffman. First, Crow had to get past Levi Tillemann-Dick, the son of Colorado’s first female lieutenant governor and grandson of former congressman Tom Lantos. Tillemann ran as an outsider, starting an “inferno” in the primary that threatened to weaken Crow in the general.

Our research aided in blunting Tillemann as we discovered that an engine firm founded by him owed more than $250,000 in back taxes in Delaware. Journalists pounced on this news, and Crow went on to handily beat Tillemann before unseating Coffman months later in the general election.
