Consumer Information Privacy Policy for Employment Background Checks

About Us and What We Do

Stanford Campaigns (or the “Company”) is a provider of criminal background checks for employment purposes. We operate as a Consumer Reporting Agency (“CRA”) under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) and are located in the State of Texas. For clients seeking our services for employment background checks, our services solely consist of criminal background checks – we do not perform credit checks, civil court checks, driving records (outside of the scope of criminal issues such as a DUI), verification of past employment and education credentials, employment and education verification histories, social media reviews, etc.

We take great care in protecting consumer information and adhere to the FCRA – we do not access nor report records dealing with the Drivers Privacy Protection Act. We follow state laws related to consumer reports and consumer reporting agencies.

This Consumer Information Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) outlines our general policy and practices for protecting consumer information, including the collection and intended use of information, the sharing of information, and how the information is stored and destroyed. This Policy applies to all consumer information received by the Company whether in electronic, paper, or verbal format.

Purpose and Use of Consumer Information

Stanford Campaigns collects consumer information, such as name (current and former), social security number, date of birth, postal address (current and former), and driver’s license number, for the purposes of generating a consumer report for employment background checks. This information is furnished to us through our clients, which obtain the information directly from the consumer. Our clients inform the consumer of this purpose and that we or our client collect an intent to use the information for this purpose at the time the consumer completes a background check notice, acknowledgment, and authorization form.

Sharing of Consumer Information

Stanford Campaigns does not sell or disclose consumer information to third parties for a purpose other than for which it was originally collected, except as stated within this Policy. Consumer data is only shared with third parties for verifying the identity of the consumer in public records. We limit the dissemination of consumer information to those with a legitimate business need and permissible purpose, or as otherwise authorized by the consumer - in such cases it is used for specific and limited purposes required to complete our service to our client. Consumers are hereby notified that their personal information may be disclosed to a third party in conjunction with an authorized background check. Consumers who wish to opt out from the sharing of their information should not provide their information to Stanford Campaigns and/or our Client, and should not complete the Background Check Notice, Acknowledgement and Authorization Form.

We may disclose consumer information to our service providers when necessary to provide the product or service requested by our client, to the extent necessary or appropriate to government agencies, advisors, and other third parties in order to comply with applicable laws or regulations, or if such action is necessary to protect the rights, property or legal claims of Stanford Campaigns.
