Stanford Campaigns’ research exposed corporate shill, made way for a Democratic comeback in Washington state.

In 2018, our work ultimately aided in the defeat of two longtime Republican legislators and the protection of two vulnerable Democrats. In 2016, Mari Leavitt lost the general election for the Washington State House District 28a to Dick Muri by four points. Using our research in 2018, Leavitt exposed Muri as a corporate shill who voted against the best interests of his constituents, and went on to beat Muri by six points in the general election.

This same year, our research also uncovered Republican Jeff Sax’s mismanagement of taxpayer dollars. Democrat John Lovick used this information to defend his seat, handily defeating Sax by 14 points.
